Super Mega Awesome Book of Super Duper Coolness

I know lately we've been concerned with learning who's been accepted to where and that the book reviews were due maybe a month ago but here's a book, The Dumbest Generation, I've recently read that's really gotten under my skin. This book talks about about the many travesties going on concerning youth today; laying down the facts with statistics to prove that as technology grows, the critical thought of the youth flows in the other direction. Mark Bauerlein, the book's author, also directs the reader's attention to the fact that we've become a media-based culture; that most, if not all, of our intellect is derived from television, internet, video games from such an early age. This isn't something that we should be proud of either because the more we imbue our daily routines with technology-based interface, the less we have of critical thought. Bauerlein even offers opposing arguments, all of which are overcome by his own with statistics to prove. Not only does the author place technology as a leading role in the deteriorating health of our intellectual side of society, but on the leading intellectual figures as well. This book is really a must read, especially for those here in ERW who don't follow the 40 minutes a night Ms. Fletcher has outlined for us all at the beginning of the year in her syllabus. It shows the embarrassing truth that we, nearly everyone born after 1980, are quite possibly the dumbest generation. I just had to put that last sentence.
