If you’re into books that are happy and you just know the end is going to be happy A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown is not at all for you. This book is a memoir of a woman whose mother died when she was only 11 years old. After her mothers untimely passing her and her brother are given to their father who then puts them into foster care for the money. Cupcake left behind her step father and uncle (her mother’s brother) who care very deeply about the children. They go through hell and back trying to get the children back but due to the “system” the she and her brother’s troubles began when she is put into a home with a wicked foster mother and her wicked daughter who are abusive and neglectful towards her and the other children in the home. She runs away too many times to count and through all her struggles her faith in God is tested. Her and her brothers relationship is lost and they are totally for themselves. She meets new people that bring negativity with them and makes some life changing decisions that lead her down a road of destruction. Her trials take her through drug selling, drug use, prostitution, pregnancy, and gang life. Cupcake Browns story really puts things into perspective for you when you can compare your life to it and see that yours isn't so bad. Cupcake Brown is a phenomenal woman in so many ways. She has changed her life for the better and has inspired people of all ages. I absolutely recommend this book. It’s not a happy kind of book but in a way it is uplifting. It shows that it’s never too late to start over.
