Book Review: The Catcher in the Rye By J. D. Salinger

The Catcher in the Rye
By J. D. Salinger
Honestly I'm not a reader; I think books are too slow, but this book scares you to the point that you must read it. Why? Because you get to read someone's mind. It's relatable to you to the point that scares you. Salinger does a really good job of reading teenagers mind and telling this Classis, Realistic Fiction. This book was written when he was in his thirty, but look at this, "I'm not going to tell you my whole goddam autobiography or anything." doesn't this tone sound so familiar, this book is really easy to follow. When I said that, I don't mean this book is only for teenagers, this book is good for anyone, I guaranteed its fun to read. Adults, this could be a flash back to the time when you we a rebel, going through adolescent . I feel like this book is not told by the narrator but rather us the readers, because you could relate so much to you that it can scare the heck out of you. There are things we know that Holden kept it a secret, because we know we would keep those things close as well.you MUST read it!!!!!

The Catcher in the Rye memory of three depressing days in Holden's life, when he builds up anger and frustration join to create a life disaster. Since the book is written is the first person, we see all people by his view, so it's not that reliable. Thru out his two day tour around this big city, New York he meets a lot of people. Meeting with Nuns, a prostitute, ex-girlfriend, old professor, and his younger sister, demonstrated his pessimistic view towards everything. Which turn out everything is negative, or more like an "emo" kid? At heart Holden is a good kid, as most teenagers are, he just fail to have the view of the world that one should have trying to make yourself part of it.

The main character is Holden, a sixteen-year-old boy who is totally alienated from his environment and from everything in the society. Antagonist is the society, according to Holden. He looks on people and event with disgust; he is a very negative person. What leads him to that, it because he's lonely. Viewing him as either as an adolescent struggling with the trouble of growing up or just a rebel against everything in the adult world. Which is what we are or how we use to be? He is getting to the age where he has to accept the adult world, but he doesn't want to. Just as the whole book is about him going back home, a place he can go back but it would never be the same.

I was waiting something major to be coming but no, it left the ending incomplete. This book isn't hard to read it just take a tolerate reader.

I would recommend this book to anyone, reading through Holden's mind encourage me to be better person in society through consideration for others.
