SSR Book Review

I read the book “Slash” by Anthony Bozza and Slash. It’s an autobiography of the legendary guitar player Slash. Bozza and Slash talk about his life from his parents to his days now as a famous guitar player in Velvet Revolver. Most know him from the famous band Guns N’ Roses. Slash goes through many adversities moving from London to Los Angeles with his parents. Living with his grandma after his mother has to work to provide for him and his brother. Slash had always been curious about different things even if it got him in trouble. He gets interested in bmx riding and became a semi professional rider for a local bike shop in his neighborhood. Always getting in trouble in school (even getting kicked out); he always had trouble focusing in class. He did do well in English and Art, his two favorite classes, though weren’t good enough to pass school. One day from looking in a closet at his grandmas, he found an old guitar that had only one string on it. He got lessons from a friend that taught him the basics of the guitar. And little by little Slash got better and better and decided that he wanted to start a band. It got off to a rocky start but they got a few gigs at some local parties. After getting better he found a band that really suited him. He met the members of Guns N’ Roses when looking to build up this band. With Slash’s guitar skills and Axl Rose’s voice, an awesome bass player and drum player they had a great band. Taking them all over California to get recognized which knowing their style of partying was kind of hard. After they got famous Slash had bad times he got addicted to drugs and it was taking over his life. Somehow he was still able to make these great hits like Welcome to the Jungle and Sweet Child O’ Mine. Guns made big hits living a great life. When Slash settled he devoted his life to his wife and two kids. Now working with Velvet Revolver he still works to make great music with his guitar.
