SSR

For the past year my mom and sister kept nagging me to read Redeeming love by Francine Rivers. Finally, I did. I was not expecting much and had doubts of how good it actually was going to be. I was wrong. After finishing it, I came to the realization that it was in my top five best books I have ever read. Redeeming love was powerful and life changing. It takes place during the 1850’s in the California gold country. You found most of the woman in a town called “Pair-a-Dice” selling their bodies for a place to sleep and the men were willing to spend their life savings for a little taste of adrenaline, excitement and the world’s most beautiful girl Angel. She worked everyday and remained strictly business. The words men and love in her vocabulary meant betrayal, backstabbing, and heartbreak. She didn’t believe in love and had every reason not too. She hated men who just used her and left her feeling dead and empty inside. She deserved better then that. Her infamous quote was “All men want to do is use you. You give them your heart, and they tear it to shreds.” Michael Hosea was her number one customer, but was there for different reasons. He knew from the first time he met her she was going to be his wife. God kept sending him to see her, and in the end everything would work out. He could tell this wasn’t the life Angel wanted and did everything in his power to give Angel a better life, but was that what she wanted? Through the novel, Michael worked everyday to thaw Angels frozen heart. My favorite quote from Michael was “love cleanses beloved. It does not beat you down. It doesn’t cast blame. My love is not a weapon, it’s a lifeline. Reach out and take hold and don’t let go.” Her final healing will come from the One who loves her even more then Michael does… the One who will NEVER let go. I recommend this book to every girl, especially the girls who have ever been through love and heart break. Francine Rivers makes it so easy for the reader to put themselves in Angel’s shoes. It’s a book you can’t put down because you want to know what will happen next.
