I Believe In Romance

I believe in romance, cheesy love letters, and naïve teenage craziness. This may be the last chance I have to be somewhat indifferent about the world before I’m thrust into adulthood. Once my blissful teenage years become a thing of the past I will be forced to have opinions about politics, pay my own bills, and be responsible for things that my parents would otherwise have to take care of. But as of now, I am content with my mom paying my phone bill, my dad being my personal taxi service, having limited worries, and—dare I use the cliché?—living my life to the fullest while I know it’s still possible.

While it’s true that life gets difficult at times, there will always be that silver lining in the cloud that seems to dominate the rough times. No matter how hard or painful the situation might be, optimism guides my days and gets me through life. I believe in happily ever after. Things will always get better in the end; if it’s not better, it’s not the end.

Therefore, I take my time walking home with my boyfriend; I don’t let silly high school gossip get in my way of having a good day; I enjoy reading those Nicholas Sparks novels that Ms. Fletcher often frowns upon. I love getting lost in fictitious tales that take me away from reality. Daydreaming about the impossible is a sort of remedy for stressful days. Rather than dwelling on the hardships and the things I can’t change, I get lost in a good book for a few hours and contemplate the realities of people I will never meet.
