A very different and unbelievable sense of humor is one of the things that surprisingly caught me to read this kind of amazing book. If a book that is completely random and containing a unique sense of humor, then When You Are Engulfed in Flames is the perfect choice. David Sedaris, the author of this book, has been known to be humorous on all his books, and in most pages from this book it is unmistakably containing his humorous quality.

David Sedaris writes about his adventures in life, and alongside him is his boyfriend Hugh. His adventures are random and out of the ordinary in some cases. Boredom isn’t one of the things that you would feel while you are engaged in this book. He is very anal about the way he writes, very detailed. The oh so! unpredictable stories that are read in When You Are Engulfed in Flames are different and very bold. I say that because these stories are based on experiences and some are actually his real life stories!

I think this book would have been really boring and somewhat undesirable to read, if it weren’t for the way he wrote it; which was humorous and extraordinary. If I would have wrote my stories or his stories it would have been a disaster. Only he can make something so dark, so funny. Sedaris really does have the ability to turn normal activities and situations into extraordinary funny.

Very random and very good

There are no other words to describe this incredible page turner book. His stories in this book range from subjects that include a parasitic worm that once lived in his mother-in-law’s leg, an encounter with a dingo, to the author’s attempt to quit smoking.

Can he be more random than that? You have to find out yourself. I recommend you to read this book or other books that he had written: Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and many more.
