Lock and Key

Lock and Key, a story written by Sarah Dessen, is about a young seventeen year old girl name Ruby. Ruby and her mother moves around very often, and whenever her mom disappears she wouldn't be surprised because she'd always return. But after a couple of months of her mother's disappearance, her landlords find out she's been living alone, and underaged. Ruby thought she would be able to support herself, and she'd try to hide the fact that she wasn't an adult yet. She was sent to live with her older sister, Cora. These two sisters have been separated for 10 years. It took a while for them to finally accept each other as real sisters due to the lack of communications. All Cora ever tried to due was contact Ruby, but her mother would always deny her calls and throw away letters she has written before Ruby would see it. Ever since she moved into Cora's house, everything has been getting better. She has met new friends, and also a cute neighbor who lives behind, Nate Cross. She finally decides to give everyone a chance to support her, rather than trying to be independent all the time. Ruby realizes that sometimes, in order to save yourself, you've got to reach out to someone else.
