Monster

A very great book that I got the chance to read was a book called “Monster” by Sanyika Shakur. This book is an autobiography of an L.A. gang member in South Central. This book was one of the 1st books in my life that really caught my interest and that is a big plus because it’s really hard for me to get into any book. So as a boy, Sanyika Shakur’s name was Kody Scott. As he hit the age of 13 he began to be a ruthless villain. He earned the name “Monster” and became apart of the 8 Trays Gangster Crip Gang. Monster had a quest written in his mind that told him he needed to be one of the greatest, most legendary gangster that walked the Earth. He did anything you could think of that was godawful. He killed so many different people and went to prison many times. His gang had a major problem with the arch enemies called Rollin 60’s Crip. Even though they are both Crips they still had beef with each other. And of course they had problems with almost all Blood Gangs.

Monster had many encounters with opposing gangs and so he “dealt” with them in a merciless manor. As he stayed in prison, he became very strong and muscular so nobody would mess with him and he was basically getting ready to get back out on the streets and doing some more damage. He converted to Islam in one of his last prison sentences. Monster began to feel bad he wasn’t helping raise his child because the “hood” is always taking up all his time. He slowly but surely drew away from the gang life and began being a father. He felt kind of bad because some would think he was traiting on his “hood”, but no matter what he had to start being there for his daughter and I think that was a great choice.

Now he has written a couple other good books and I read his other one called “T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E.” (great book). I suggest this book to readers that are interested in learning about the gang world and if you like to read about violent crimes. Now I’m not saying you should read this if you want to join gangs or do any of that, but from where I came from and what I know, it was a great book that caught my eye and I could relate and understand the book really well (not saying I was ever from a gang or anything though).
