The Lucky One

It is hard for me to say that I really like a book. It seems now most authors would rather write about love and it’s obstacles rather then reality. I’m not going to lie but when I picked up this book I did not put it down. I am a girl, once in a while I need to read about cheesy unrealistic love stories. This semester for silent reading I read a book titled The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. This book was recommended to me by my mother and I decided to read it because I had realized I had only two days until my book review was due and I couldn’t find a book in my house that I hadn’t already read.
The Lucky One is the story of a former U.S. marine named Logan Thibault he sets off on a journey across the country by foot. He was unsure of the full reason why he was taking this trip and the only thing that kept him going was a picture that he had kept in his pocket since he was in Iraq. He had found the picture on the ground and after no one had claimed it he had decided it to keep it instead of letting it go to waste. The picture was of a woman he didn’t know the woman or even what her name was all he knew was she lived in a city by the name of Hampton.
When Thibault’s life seemed at a dead end he began his trek across the country to find this woman in the picture. He left only with a backpack full of clothes and his dog. According to his friend, Victor, this woman was his lucky charm that the picture is what kept him alive during the war. It was his destiny to find this woman. He did not know what he would do once he arrived in Hampton and he wasn’t even sure he would even find the woman. When arriving in Hampton he realizes that his destiny is a little different than what he had expected.
I would recommend this book to girls who like love stories. It is the typical Nicholas Sparks love story with a little drama.
