Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a romantic, gothic book, which is about a girl who is forced to live with her cousins after her parents passed away. As a child, Jane learns life lessons about faith from her playmate, Helena, from the school she attends. This book is about Jane finding independence, love, and forgiveness.
While living with her cousins, Jane becomes a very passionate child, which made her want independence. And when she attended Lowood, she was able to find some sort of independence until she found that the orphans living at Lowood were being overworked and underfed. After Jane finishes her schooling, she becomes a governess in Thornfield and meets Mr. Rochester who is her boss. She falls in love with Mr. Rochester who returns the feelings as well. They plan to get married but a conflict arises. Jane discovers that Mr. Rochester is already married to another woman. She also finds out that the woman he married was crazy and he was forced into marrying her because she was wealthy. Jane leaves Mr. Rochester and believes that they would be sinning against God because if they were to be married, they would be committing adultery.
When Jane leaves, she finds her other cousins in another town and lives there for a year. After some conflicts arose yet again, Jane travels to find Mr. Rochester because she realizes that she loved him with all her heart.
I honestly think that this book is really hard to read and at some points, really boring. But other than its very boring, very long descriptive chapters, I really like the plot. The plot is pretty interesting but I haven't finished this book so I am intrigued to find out what will happen.
