SSR Book Review: Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer
This semester in Ms. Fletcher's class brought to my attention quite a few interesting books, however, it is the most recent one that I have read that has really caught my attention: Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I've heard about this book countless times within the past few years; it was, however, only until I noticed we have to read this book for the next semester. I was finally pulled past the edge and inclined to read this book. Finished in just a couple of days, I now know that it was a terrible mistake to have waited so long to pick up this book. It is essentially a biography recounting the tales of a recent college graduate, Christopher Johnson McCandless, from the moment he leaves his hometown and peaceful existence through all the events as he traverses the country. It is an enthralling story that will captivate the reader from beginning to end for sure,\; I'd give away details but then I wouldn't want to spoil the fun. I, however, was overtaken by this man's life. It was such an interesting experience just to read; I can't even fathom how much he must have enjoyed what he was doing. Although, there were a few chapters that may have willed me to put the book down for a while, mostly pertaining to short anecdotes where the author retells a personal experience from his own life to try and relate to McCandless'. Overall, this book is a really great read and I'm sure anyone else who gives it a shot definitely won't regret it. Seeing as how this book is next on the list to be read, courtesy Ms. Fletcher, I guess you have no choice. Even though I may have already read and finished it, however, I have no problem rereading this book.
