Paper Towns

My SSR book was "Paper Towns" by John Green. This book follows the life of a fictional character named, Quentin Jacobsman, who seems like normal kid from the point of view of his peers, but has secrets buried inside; secrets that involve his lifelong crush of Margo Spiegelman. The book starts with a horrific childhood memory that sparked the dysfunctional mind of Margo. Since then, childhood neither Quentin nor Margo have spoken to one another, other than the occasional greeting in the hallway. Until, One night when Margo sneaks into Quentin's room to ask him for a favor and in return receive one of the greatest nights ever.

The next few chapters follows the two in their middle of the night adventure that includes pranks, vandalism, and trespassing. It was a wonderful night of excitement and debauchery, but it wasn't for Quentin. To him it was a night with the perfect girl of his lifetime and a night he will one day cherish. After that night everything went back to normalcy, as if nothing happened; nothing except for the disappearance of Margo.

She had left a note that writes of her leaving and leaves a clue, a clue only Quentin can figure out. The book then takes off into a new direction in which Quentin and his partners, Radar and Ben left behind their so called, "paper town" in Florida to find clues in numerous places in search of the missing girl; and possibly get her back in time for the high school prom.

I've chosen this book mainly because I was a big fan of John Green , not because of his success in books but also his success in youtube as a video star with his brother. This book was an easy read but a very comedic book because of their witty phrases and remarks, conversation of both intellectually provoking as well as bringing pop culture into the mix. For this, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys John Green but also who needs a funny story to read filled with excitement and wonder.
