This I believe that High School has the potential to corrupt the most innocent people, turn friends into enemies and help people lose sight of who they really are. High school has said to be the most difficult and memorable times of our lives. In these four pivotal years of our lives we gain new friendships, have our first loves, have our heart broken and learn new things about ourselves each and every day. Between the puberty and acne, we grow up into young adults. For most of us that’s the plan, others of us come into high school immature and will leave the same way.
During High School you will hear scandalous stories all the time, some are true some are false. For the most part they are over exaggerated but still have some truth within them. Girls will be friendly with boys because in high school “everyone does it.” People will change some for the good and some for the bad. Some people change to be like their friends because they feel compelled to act like everyone else. From experience I truly think that girls are the most malicious and conniving people you will encounter during these few years and will do just about anything to see you breakdown. They will try to test your limits, they will try to break you, and they will try to get inside your head. Welcome to the world where people hurt you, turn their back on you and torture you.
One of the most influential saying I’ve heard from one of my friends is, “What are you gaining?” If you really think about it what are you gaining by fighting and arguing with people who hurt you time after time again? What are you possibly getting out of life by telling people lies about others and exerting all of your energy in making someone else’s life miserable . I find myself some days asking myself that question when I’m stuck in a quandary.
Even though these four years may be some of the hardest years of our lives, they can also be unforgettable. During these four years you have the opportunity to create the most beautiful friendships. You can build the strongest bonds between your friends and know that these are the people you turn to. These friends you meet in high school are your support system, they are the ones you turn to for a good laugh and they are the ones you lean on when you need them the most.
I believe high school has the power to change people. I believe the people you meet in high school can inspire you. This is our time to grow, to change and to experience things. I believe high school is one of the most important times of our lives to test ourselves and realize how strong we can be. Between the rumors, heartaches and intensity of it all, I believe this is the time in our lives where we figure out who we are and what we can do.
