The Dive From Clausen's Pier

Through the whispers and the bustle around the classroom I manage to hunker down and try to concentrate for 40 minutes. I decided to read The Dive from Clausen's Pier by Ann Packer during SSR because it was one of the books that the librarians recommended and also my friend Rachel. I was already so curious from the title and then I scanned the back of the cover to get an idea of where this book would take me and I knew it would be interesting.

This book is about a woman named Carrie Bell whose fiancé gets into a terrible accident while diving off a pier. I really got caught up in the book because Carrie and her fiancé Mike were already having problems before the accident and now that he was in the hospital, paralyzed and in a coma; she knew she couldn't leave him with out people questioning her. At points in the book, I could feel her pain and worry while she struggled on the huge decisions she had to make. The ups and downs of the book become sometimes hard to follow with Carrie's constant depression and horrible skills at making decisions but it’s still very interesting.

Now I won’t give away what happens at the end because that is just something you will have to find out for yourself. I definitely recommend this book but just know to stick with it through the boring parts because believe me, there are boring parts. So the question is, will Carrie Bell stay with her fiancé or leave him in his heartbreaking condition?

***Ms. Fletcher I wasn't sure how to underline the title of the book because I don't see that as an option. :)
