BLUE ANGEL

Blue Angel a novel by Francine Prose delves into the story of a young college student, her professor and the fine line between a professional relationship and one that is not. With saddness I say that I closed this book in utter dissappointment. It isn't to say however, that this is not a good book. Angela Argo, one of the main characters, is a synical girl who you warm up to in all her quirks and the other is Mr. Swenson, a writing professor at a University in Euston. Angela seeks advice and guidance from Swenson, but there's a twist to her interest. She is writing a novel for Swenson's writing class and that is also a good protion of the book itself, bouncing from the reality of Angela's life and back to her "made up" story. The novel is filled with comical situations and characters that I found have similar counterparts to in my life. Prose expresses in a detailed fashion the sexual tension and thoughts between characters allowing for the reader to get caried away with his imagination. For people who enjoy "figuring things out" in a book, this is an entertaining read. It kept me turning page after page, I will admit, but it left me frustrated.
