The Gideon Series

Over the summer, my cousin introduced a collection of books to me written by an author that she was really interested about. His name is Eric Jerome Dickey and he has written many novels, anthologies, a movie, and a comic book series. While searching for a book he created, one collection of books caught my eye. It is called the Gideon series and it is composed of the books Sleeping With Strangers, Waking With Enemies, Dying for Revenge, and Resurrecting Midnight. During the first semester, I began reading Sleeping with Strangers. I was worried about reading the book in class because of the provocative cover but when I started reading it in front of people they didn’t seem to mind. Well, the book introduces a character named Gideon who is an assassin who comes from a troubled past. He is searching for the one person who caused him much heartbreak. The search brings him to London, England where he encounters many people who begin to affect the way he sees the world. Soon after that, I began reading the book Waking With Enemies, a book that is filled with so much suspense that your head will blow up. No, I’m just kidding about the whole blowing up of a person’s head but it is an incredible book about Gideon still searching for more answers about his identity. Following that book is Dying for Revenge and Resurrecting Midnight, respectively. I just finished reading Dying for Revenge and it was a very exciting book. It followed Gideon to the island of Antigua where he is being followed by a woman who had much contempt for Gideon. The book shows a softer side of Gideon that isn’t conveyed through the rest of the series as much. I recommend this series to readers who are interested in suspenseful, romantic and comedic books. Also, I recommend this book series because it gives insight on how an assassin thinks and lives. It shows how assassins come from troubled families, whether the mom is a prostitute or the father is an abusive man. The book demonstrates how assassins have the same type of emotions normal human beings possess however they have the ability to shut down those emotions. I’m not encouraging anyone to become an assassin and Lord knows that I would never want to be one but I think this series is a MUST-READ
