A little less than a year ago i read a book titled Th1rteen R3asons why. My mother told me she had heard good things about it, but obviously had never read it; She got it signed by the author, Jay Asher, and handed it over to me to read and review. The book follows Clay Jenson after he receives a strange box from the beautiful Hannah Baker, who had committed suicide just two weeks before. He finds the box filled with cassette tapes, with the voice of Hannah Baker herself giving the 13 reasons why she decided to end her life. He follows her voice around the community he shared with her, and sees life through her eyes. On his walk he realized that in the world of Hannah "everything affects everything" and he even discovers more about himself.
I am certainly not going to lie to you, if you're looking for a happy book then this is not the book for you. After reading the book i was angry and even a little upset, but it inspires you to do something if you see what could and should be seen between the lines. Maybe, like Clay, it might help you to step out. I really liked this book, it was easy to follow and well written. If my little insight inspired YOU; read it and see how you feel.
lots of love, Lauren Leslie Salas
