Back in May, my cousin Ruben graduated from CSU Fullerton with a degree in Political Science. Today, I have received a letter of acceptance from Fullerton! I was a little scared when my mom told me I had mail. It was a 3x8 letter and one of my friends had mentioned last week, "If you don't get a packet, it's a rejection letter." This is the first response back from one of the colleges I applied to. Thankfully, their letter invited me to attend their school.
At the moment, I feel on top of the world. Being the youngest of three daughters, my freedom and independence have always felt nonexistent. My parents held my hand through pretty much every little thing for the past seventeen years of my life. With college and my eighteenth birthday just eight months away, I can see a whole new world of opportunities for me; one that does not include my parents' vigilance 24/7.
One letter down, five more to go.
