I believe in the power of "The Secret". It has been passed down through the ages, coveted, hidden, lost, stolen, and bought for fortunes. This "Secret" has been the epitome of success among the likes of Plato, Galileo, Beethoven, Edison, Carnegie, Einstein, Oprah, and thousands of other great thinkers, scientists, philosophers, and simply those who have been successful. The Secret has been an idea passed down through my family, and has finally found it's way to much of the world, including me, and it has changed my life forever.
The true meaning of The Secret is indescribable in simply several paragraphs. In fact, its true essence can not even be portrayed in hundreds of pages. There have been a plethora of books written upon this subject to help people understand it. Despite this, the truth is that for one to understand it, one must live it. One must interpret the teachings of the holders of the secret as it applies to their life, and put it into effect. I wish not only to convey to you my belief in The Secret, but to delve into it and give it an opportunity to change your life around.
So what is this big secret? To my understanding and as applied to my life, it is simply positive, or rather affirmative thinking. Our positive thoughts are like magnets, attracting positive energy towards us. This applies to negative thinking as well. Our thoughts are simply a natural law governing our lives, just as the law of gravity. This has been scientifically proven in what is known to scientists as the "observation theory". I believe that if I visualize myself accomplishing my goals, they are likely to be accomplished, at least much rather likely than if I was thinking negatively. Aside from attracting what I hope for (from good grades to material things) I feel that the true meaning of The Secret is spiritual and internal growth. Only then can The Secret be truly be fulfilled in your life.
I vividly recall the first day I learned of The Secret. My aunt (who happens to be a spiritual growth fanatic) visiting from New York enthusiastically filled my hands with brochures, books, and DVD’s of her new-found love, only minutes after setting foot in California. As any other Southern Californian teen would do, I attempted my best face of genuine interest and listened as this nutty philosophical-maniac rattled on and on about this "Secret". As soon as the opportunity arose, I slickly changed the subject, and never looked back. The following day, as I was rushing to shove my shin guards in my socks for my first Varsity soccer game which I was late for, my aunt subtly demanded me to sit and watch a film entitled "The Secret". Slowly, I was reeled in by the ridiculous theories I was hearing. "So if I believe I will score a goal today, I will?" was my snarky response. Nonchalantly, she replied, "Just watch". On the car drive to my game, I began visualizing myself scoring a goal, just to test out this "Secret". Almost 100% convinced it wouldn't work, I ran off to my game... and scored. At first, I brushed it off as simply coincidence, but as my life progressed, the Secret shed positive light even on negative things in my life such as my grandfather's surgery, illness, family issues, no-good girlfriends, and other aspects of a teen's life. Since then, I have become an avid follower and advocate of The Secret.
I believe that every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, peace, health, and abundance, with solely the power of the mind. I believe a human's thoughts are the strongest force on our planet. I believe that each and every on of our thoughts is a force that is attracted to us humans. I believe that we are the Michelangelo of our own lives, and the David we are sculpting is ourselves. I believe there are forces at work in our universe that we can never fully understand, so we have a choice: reject it, or embrace it. I choose the latter. I choose to embrace the unknown. I believe in the powers of The Secret.
