Lies. People tell lies everyday for a plethora of purposes. Some say lies just to get a out of trouble, while others tell lies to deny the existence of a heinous act they may have committed. Lies are everywhere and will always be here as long as humanity shall exist. I believe that it lies make the world go around.
People have been lying to each other since, well since I learned that a few things I’ve always thought were true, were just falsified information. I came to know to this conclusion when I was younger, around eight or nine years old. I always thought Santa Clause was real, the same applies to the infamous tooth fairy, yet not the Easter bunny for I was Catholic. Every Christmas my face would light up like the proverbial tree that is set up in the living room, as a present that wasn’t there the night before magically appears. It mystified me about the jolly red man my parents proclaimed about, would come down some chimney and bring gifts to good little boys and girls. This illusion seemed to fade to black as I grew. I found them once sneaking the gifts into the tree at night, and well it went down hill from that. To say that I was shocked is an understatement, I was down right crushed finding out that some of the stories my parents told me were all just lies. I got over it after a week or two due to me still being a kid. As I grew and learned more about the world, I thought about the lies that my parents told me and figured something out: they told me lies to protect me from growing up too fast. I really must thank them for that because if they didn’t I’d just be another mindless drone, crushing some of the dreams of other kids.
Looking at the people in my age group now, I see that not only has the lying increased, yet the severity of it has grown too. People now lie about doing drugs, alcohol, sex and any other negative thing you can think off. Not only that, but many others a lot older than myself, also join in the sharing of mystified truth. Very few become corrupted and hide the truth from their coworkers and associates. Some lie to their husband or wives telling them that they are still truthfully in love with them. Almost everyone who knows how to speak knows how to lie, and are willing to do it for their own needs.
Lies will be around as long as we humans are here. Almost everyone lies, and I am accountable as well. It is sad to say that there is truth out there, but we cannot handle said truth. This is why I believe that lies make the world go round.
